I really like the more detailed car end diaphragms used by MTH on their latest passenger cars. They have a rub plate on the outside end and two silver rattle bars that do a lot for their looks. My question is if these can easily be added to older MTH cars? It seems like the rattle bars only require drilling of two holes and the rub plates may just fit into the existing diaphragms. Also, has anyone bought them from MTH as spare parts? Would love to hear the thoughts of others! Thanks, Yard Bull

I am following this thread because I am in complete agreement with your comment, and would like a source of replacement parts.
I was able to purchase some of the "swing bars" (MTH Description) from Midge. I have not looked into the striker plates. They may or may not be able to be ordered separately. Best to call her using a part number from a car that has what you are looking for.
Here is an earlier car that has had the swing bars (sic) added along with figures and grabs painted to match the car.

These seemingly minor details add a lot to the car. I'll take your suggestion and give MTH a call! Thanks Norton and Rob. Yard Bull
