HI gang, I have a new Polar Express up and running fine on standard O Tubular with a CW-80.  Essentially a 100' loop around the perimeter of our "Great Room. "

However, 3 or 4 times in the past few weeks, the train will not respond to any commands from the remote (no sound, movement, etc) although the lights are on in the cars and headlight, and the train is getting full power.  Each time, after I unplug the CW-80 it usually comes back on-line.  This last time, that didn't help and I ended up having to lift the train and tender a few times to get the sound and responsiveness back.

I'd welcome any thoughts or ideas folks may have!

Thanks

Keith

Thank you for your replies - in each case, the train is at least 30' from the transformer.  I've not yet added any additional power drops (was hoping I'd get away without it!!!).   In my thinking, because the train has been running flawlessly all the way around (at many different speed settings), I wouldn't need additional power points.  I will run a few now and hope that clears it up.

Thanks again :-)

The resistance (although low) in the track is enough to lower the power over a long stretch. Adding an additional power drop or two would more than likely clear up you problem. A 100 foot track is pretty long. Since you have two rails for the ground, and thus lower resistance, I would run a single wire to the center rail on the far side of the layout. For floor layouts using Fastrack, I like to tape the wire to the bottom of the track with electrical tape so you can't see it.
