Not sure if I am complaining or not.  I like the smell, it reminds me of the smoke scent from the old days.  My problem is that I am using the hot chocolate scent from megasteam and it has not seemed to take yet.  I know that when I put this train on the track to program, it started to smoke the minute I put it on the track and applied power.  I quickly turned the power off and shut off the smoke using the switch.  I then applied power and programmed the loco.  Everything seems to work like it should.  It smokes great.  I just can't figure out why it smells like the classic smoke scent.  Has anyone else noticed this.  I know its not the smoke fluid because my SD70ACe smells like whatever scent of smoke I add.

I have been using Hot Chocolate Megasteam exclusively in my new PE, and it smells right to me.  Granted, I didn't check the scent until it had been running a few hours, so I don't know if it smelled right immediately.  I do know that if there was another scent, or even unscented fluid already in the unit (does Lionel ship engines with dry smoke units?), it might take a while for the scent to catch up when a different scent is added.

I have an engine (not a PE, it's MTH) that just smells bad when smoke is on. Maybe it's me, but my others don't have this smell. It was purchased new and has always had that 'smell' from day one no matter what I have tried. I have also tried the Eliminator in it, several fillings of it. I just got some replacement wicks from MTH, so I guess that's the next thing to try.
