New Problem: TMCC vs CONVENTIONAL

The engine is a Lionel SD-70; not odyssey, but with cruise control

The problem:
1. Runs OK via TMCC
2. Does NOT run OK in Conventional. At full voltage [18 -20] from the ZW, it starts with a hi-speed surge, then drops back to medium speed. Max speed is much too slow.

Attempted fixes:
1. Swap radios; Another R2LC-08. No change
2. Ditto but with R2LC-C. Starts OK, with sound , but wont’ go {TMCC or CONV]
3. Reset engine. No effect.

WHAT TO TRY NEXT?

Hmm... if it has Cruise it has to be either Odyssey or Legacy. I know that some of the early Odyssey locos didn't seem to run well in conventional at all, it's almost like Lionel didn't expect them to be operated in anything but a command environment. What's the product number??

Well, the cruise could be the Lionel back-EMF driver that they used in some production models.

What's an R2LC-C?

They did not use it in SD-70, unless this was upgraded to ERR Cruise. G

That's my thinking George. I don't know if this unit is stock or what.

are we sure the tmcc system is disconnected from the layout?

ie: unplugged?
