You might be more specific on what type of vista dome you want.
-the post war extruded aluminum car that is 15 inches long?
-a plastic car that is 18 inches long?
-a scale 20/21 inch car?
-paint job/livery?
Hello, sorry for the backhanded question. I've seen the 35257 vista dome by Lionel on eBay at 174.95 unrun and in a box. I am not fussed about box and will run it in any event. They had a list price of around the 75 mark, but I am sure that they are relatively rare.
OK. This is one of the newer plastic 13 inch cars that were probably inspired by the MTH RailKing cars. The ebay auctions are here:

They should not be that rare at all, especially if you look at RailKing cars. They are almost identical to the Lionel cars of this series. Actually, since the RailKing cars came out first, it's more accurate to say that the Lionel cars are almost identical to the RailKing cars.

Actually, some dealers were originally selling them for about $53. This is a little 13" plastic starter car - I can't imagine why prices for it are so high, or why anyone would pay anywhere near that for this car. It's so far out of line it seems like a joke, really.
David should ask the seller if the listed price is a typographical error, if he's interested in the car. Worst that can happen (for David) is the seller says no.
What, me worry?

Well, a large national dealer has one listed on the Bay for $175, and there have been some others selling in the 140-175 range, so maybe it's real. Seems nuts. I can't remember seeing anything modern appreciate like that in value. It doesn't seem it should be worth more than a third of those amounts.
