NEW TO MTH, ENGINES NOT PUFFING SMOKE?

No chuff sound? Or just no puff in time with the chuff sound? …..odd that both engines exhibit the same problem…..

I had an MTH engine that had been sitting for 10 years and a glob of goo had formed in the fan, this kept it from being able to turn.  It would still smoke but nothing to blow it out.

Sounds work and operate as they should. Both engines chuff, whistle, crew talk fine. No smoke at idle, and no smoke when moving, but there is smoke in the stack, I cant image both fans have an issue. But maybe I should open them and do some further investigating. I just thought I must be doing something wrong.

Open one up, see if putting around 3 volts DC (emphasis on DC) on the fan and see if it spins.  Make sure the wires are intact all the way from the smoke fan to the rear connector with no wires pinched by the shell.  Also, make sure the impeller isn't loose on the shaft, it's a friction fit and over time it gets loose from starting and stopping.

Agree with John & CMW623, ….possibly a loose impeller from formed varnish making it stuck, ….are these new to you engines?  ….been stored a while?
