Just wondering if anyone bought any new trains this week and then had unauthorized charges on their debit/credit card.It would not be fair to name a vendor unless we discover anything in common. I had two fraudulent transactions yesterday with a debit card that I loaded and then used only with the train seller.

Without having any more information I would suggest you call the place you purchased your trains from. I am sure they would like to know and they will keep an eye out.

This is all too common. Could have nothing to do with the vendor. With a credit card you are protected. My Amex was reissued 3 times in the last year due to fraud.

Same thing here but it wasn't a train shop. Second time my visa card has been hacked. Visa said most people get hit at least once a year now. Call tne train shop and let them know. Their account may be hacked.

The merchant knows and I got hit again overnight since talking to them.
Sign of the times, I have had two cards cancelled this past year by the banks because of the merchants being hacked.

It's happened to my debit card twice, but never a credit card. Once was from online (Hence why I got a credit card.) and 2nd time from those Target/Home Depot hacks or a card skimmer in town. I just keep an eye on things and have had both shut down the next day after it happened.
A couple of years ago i was awakened at 5:00 a.m. by a phone call from the security department of an international airline. The representative politely inquired if I had authorized a woman in Nigeria to use my Discover card. She was trying to charge a ticket from Lagos to Indianapolis! I checked my account and there were one or two small bogus charges, apparently tests to make sure the card number worked. Discover cancelled the bogus charges and I had a new card in a couple of days. The lady presumably had to scam somebody else to get to Indianapolis.
I would get with the issuer of the debit card and get it reissued immediately.
I only get dinged after buying Audi and VW parts from Germany or Eastern Europe. Nothing from train scammers yet.
That has happened to me before after making a purchase from a OGR forum sponsor. Visa told its not my fault the card could have been compromised when I was in a store up to a year earlier. That wasn't the first time and probably won't be the last time. I've heard of replacement cards being hacked before they are in the customer's hands. A sign of the times.
I know debit cards can be trickier, but PNC has always gotten my money back to me when an issue occured
Call your credit card co., they will put a hold or freeze your account and issue you a new no., then call the vendor so they will know. When my account showed something out of the ordinary or out of state they called me and asked if I purchased a item, if not they take care of it and issued me a new card no.

My wife's debit card was compromised at a local bakery, which might have been done by an employee using a reading device and a debit showed up the next day and again, a week later, both for $40.00 each, at a gas station not nearby, evidently by the same person, before I discovered the phony charges.
The bank conducted an investigation, my wife's card was cancelled and we received back the monies stolen!!!!
I try to check everyday, as these bums have sophisticated methods to steal from us, even at an A.T.M.!!!!

Yep
After both our major cards were involved and had to be changed in the past year. One was over 6K out of country at some Island resort???
We got a additional new charge card for nothing but e-net purchases. I kept the maximum charge amount to 3K.
It's worked well the past year.
NEVER used a debt card on e-net.

EDIT: I'm sorry, this was not related to a train purchase just other purchases.
I checked my phone for email messages when I woke up last year in Salzburg to find out that my Visa had been compromised,it had been used in Las Vegas,Romania and Italy,Visa sent new cards within two days and at that time we were in the Alps in the middle of nowhere, that is great service.

The best thing you can do is set up an e-mail alert whenever any purchase is made on a credit card. you receive the e-mail as soon as the card is used. Not with a debit, at least not with the bank I use. And be careful using debit card at gas stations. seems a lot more theft happening.
