This video highlights my Lionel's Union Pacific SD40T-2's and the famous "Desert Victory" SD40-2. The consist is hauling a solid load of "Piggybacks" on Atlas "Frontrunners" and 89' Flatcars.

I like to cycle thru my locomotives yearly with a lube, clean and inspection. These (3) units have not seen any layout time in a while, so they got promoted to star in my new video. #4004 and #3593 were issued by Lionel in 2003. #2974 was issued in 2012.

I hope you enjoy the video.

Don,

I am always fascinated when I see multiple trains moving at the same time. You do so good at focusing on one train and while others become background and foreground. Would you consider giving a master class in video production? Thank you for your effort, very enjoyable while my own layout remains mired in sawdust.

David, Kevin, Bill and Jason. Thanks guys for the kind words. Kevin, I hate to divulge all my secrets….I was thinking about writing an article for the magazine on photography and videography instead of one about working on my layout.

A decent video can be made with an iPhone but I prefer a digital camera on a tripod. “No shake” is mandatory. Using a camera, I can control depth of field, etc. Basically the same settings as taking a picture.

Thanks again guys and stay tuned. Wrapping up the next video right now.

Hey Don - My new Sunday morning ritual / a cup of coffee and watch your latest video / as always awesome and thank you

I REALLY like the "staged still shots" at the end - gives me a chance to study and appreciate your layout - please keep them coming although I know they are time consuming and hard work - Thx again

Thank you very much for the kind words. Next weekend there may be a “BigBoy” for your viewing pleasure!

Having the “stills” at the end allows me to take quality shots of the equipment and my layout. Photography is more relaxing as I do not have to deal with portable lighting. Staging them in 3 second bursts along with the background music is fun to create. I enjoy watching just the stills myself!
