I thought some others might enjoy this link to Mitch Markovitz's wonderful art work. Click on the gallery link. He's currently my favorite painter of all things railroad and beyond...

Not bad. I think I still prefer the late Ted Rose. He just knew how to get everything "right."

I absolutely agree. I wrote an appreciation of Ted after his passing in Trains and was surprised to receive a lovely letter from his wife who agreed his love of railroading was on a par with David P Morgan.
Ted accomplished in images what David did with words.
I miss them both. Mitch is still with us and I think is deserving of appreciation while he's with us but...all of them are\ were gifted and added a lot to my own life. I have Ted's book which I always come back to.
I do like the one you posted, especially the backlighting on the clouds.

The difference comes down to Mitch doing poster art versus a straight forward portrayal. His style is largely 1920's era commercial art..I should have posted a more representative sample.

That is one photo realistic work of art. I had to look at it several times to figure out it was painted. You certainly have the touch of a gifted artist. Do you have an online portfolio?

The thread is about new art being created now in the style of vintage commercial art..but examples from the past have their own allure. There's a separate thread on art made some decades ago.

You could sell prints of your work. It beats a majority of what I have seen on the market.

Hi Bruce • Sorry about the chaos • If you would like for me to take it down, drop me an e-mail or post here.
I would like to share one more vintage style commercial art that was on the back cover, of "The Henry Ford Magazine" Jan - May 2015. The first time I looked at the ad, it reminded me of Vintage Railroad Ads" but using enhanced photography. The clouds and color look like vintage train ads. Art is in the eye of the beholder. My two cents. Gary

I enjoy the images! The topic got somewhat off but that's interesting as well.

A more representitive sample...of Mitch's work,
Jon
Ill have to look to see if they are still around.
Thanks..
Bruce
Some of you who go to York may have seen this guy in the orange hall. George Wybenga and his Caboose Art. Unfortunately, he doesn't make the trek from Long Island anymore, but is active with the Long Island Railroad Preservation Society. I always made it a point to visit George.
There are some really great artwork on the posts here on this thread.
