Guys - I purchased an new ZW-L just three weeks ago, and today it looks like it may have to go back to Lionel.

Here's the deal - I only use the A-B (right side) Output posts - I have NOTHING connected to the C-D (left side) outputs.  When I turned the ZW-L on this morning, the voltmeter for the C-D was dark - as if a circuit had been tripped.  I double checked all circuit breakers, used the reset intructions in the manual, threw a little pixie dust on it, and still, the backlight won't come on.  By the way, the red light is NOT lit.

In addition, when I push the D Throttle lever forward, the volltage output registers on the darkened voltmeter - even though nothing is connected to it.  Previously, if I pushed that lever forward, the voltmeter continued to show zero output - I assumed that was because I had nothing connected to the D posts.  Also, if I push the C throttle lever forward, the C-D AMPMETER registers amps - and again, nothing is connected to the C-D posts.

I should also note that I have the ZW-L connected to a very good surge protector.

I would appreciate any advice you could send my way.

First have you checked to see if you have power coming to the transformer?

Next move the transformer ON/OFF button to OFF then ON.

The GREEN power indicator should be ON and remain ON.

If not ON you have a problem with your incoming power or the Lionel ZW has failed.

Note: The meters are labelled A-U, B-U, C-U and D-U.  The meters should read the outputs when a track is connected between A and U, B and U, etc.

Check page 7 of the Lionel manual.  It describes how the meters respond to operator action.

The Right Voltmeter reads A-U (default). The Left Voltmeter reads D-U (default).

The manual states that if you touch the "B lever" the B-U reading will be displayed.

The manual states that if you touch the "C lever" the C-U reading will be displayed.

gunrunner - they offered free shipping - I was going to tell them I was a veteran - but didn't have to!
