My friend David Vaughn's O scale Nickel Plate layout. One of the neatest things about this layout, to me, was his ability to save much of John Armstrong's Canandaigua Southern O scale layout and incorporate it into his. You'll see several well known scenes from John's layout, in addition to one of John's custom 2-10-4's.

Now that's an impressive layout. It's massive. It kind of looks like an HO layout, but it's O-Scale. Pretty cool 2-10-4 Texas. Is it just a custom paint scheme on an existing locomotive?

No because note that it has a Belpair Firebox, like a PRR locomotive (except the PRR did not have any such 2-10-4 locomotives).

What was the manufacturer of the engine?

Didn't the original poster state that the 2-10-4 was "custom"?

It is a very impressive O scale layout. That 2-10-4 I believe is an old Max Gray brass import. It originally belonged to the late John Armstrong (known as the "dean" of model railroad track planning). It's painted for Canandaigua Southern as that was his private road.

is there a track plan of this layout somewhere?

I'm thinking of adding a second level to mine and need ideas.

There is a published track plan in the 2016 edition of Great Model Railroads. It's probably available on trains.com if you search their track plan database. I was over at David's again last night, operating his layout. I'll post an updated video.
