Now that is one of the best Coca-Cola commercials I've seen in a long while....
For me that is right up there with the Budweiser Clydesdale Ads
It should win an award but probably will not given todays standards.
Thank you for the video.
I passed along to my e-mail pals.
Thank you Rich,
That is one 'SWEET' Coca-Cola commercial!!
Ralph
Fabulous!
Peter
You are correct Charlie, of this Coca-Cola commercial being up there with the Budweiser Clydesdale commercial.
When and where I lived in Staten Island, N.Y., there was this Franzreb Stables who housed the winter Clydesdales, for the snowy winter scenes.
I forget where in California, but Cali. was where the summer Clydesdales where stabled, for the summer scenes.
Ralph
Good stuff!
And I usually drink Pepsi...
Rusty
So is this an actual commercial or something for the FW or even his production company, LYNCHPIN CREATIVE? Just curious if we'll see in the main stream. Looks like it would play well before a movie at the theater.
I got a chance to work with Kelly this summer. I was very impressed. I am usually working behind the scenes technically and found a lot of the "creative types" to be a unprepared and difficult but Kelly was a pleasure to work with and knows his craft well.
Wow...just fabulous!!
seems a little like a part in the polar express the bedroom then looking out the window and the sound of the train still nice though
awesome video. thanks

Kelly did this on "spec" because he had the passion and the vision to do this. Executives at Coke have now seen it and have been very impressed. It's too long (2:30) for a network or cable TV spot so I'm not sure how Coke might use it, but they have shown some interest.
Kelly is a talented young man with his head on straight. He and I have worked together on a couple of small video projects. He handled the cameras and audio for me when I sat with Jack Wheelihan (Hot Water) and did the interview in GLA 8. Kelly is in the final stages of producing a documentary about the 765 and the Fort Wayne organization. I am looking forward to the release of that video.
Would make an excellent Super Bowl commercial. I could care less about the football game itself, but that's when all of the "special" commercials are aired.
Aaron
That was amazing.
Rusty,
I like Pepsi-Cola better, also.
I found out that Pepsi is a little more sweeter, than Coca-Cola.
BUT!!! Coca-Cola not only has this great video ad, it also had the many, besides girl ads, the Christmas Santa Claus ads!!!!!!
Ralph
A commercial of that length could be used in movie theaters before the previews start. They already put long commercials there now, and this would be awesome on a big screen...
Andy
Beautiful!

A Super Bowl ad is the perfect venue. And Coke can afford it.

Not to be a "rivet counter" here, but shouldn't those have been 8oz bottles? Those bottles looked larger, maybe its me.
Its fantastic! I agree with others on the superbowl ad if nothing else. Many of the superbowl commercials have to be watched till the end to find out what product is being advertised.
It sure beats a computer generated polar bear.
Thanks for posting it Rich!
Makes me want a case of Coke and a new train!

They Look like the Mexican coke's made with Cane Sugar, much better then American coke IMO. You can get them in 24 packs at Sam's club or BJ's.
Great Commercial!
Kelly hits it out of the park yet again. Kelly produces beautiful photos and video and I ALWAYS look forward to what he has coming down the pipe. The FWRHS Documentary WILL be worth the wait!
As the actual film is about 2minutes 30 seconds and 30 seconds of credits, it could be edited down to a 30 TV second spot. You'd lose most of the 765 footage, but they're selling Coke, not the 765.
Rusty
Awesome.
John.
Sort of reminded me of the "Mean" Joe Greene Superbowl ad of quite a few years ago now. Well done!
Poppyl
That's one of the best ads I have ever seen.
Reminds me of my granddad sitting in the car while my grand mother did shopping. We would just sit there and talk. Across the way there was the Seaboard Coast Line. I would hear a train whistle and look at the freight trains go by while drinking a coke and trying to read all the names on the boxcars. I also learned trying to read boxcars going by at 55 to 65mph. Can make you real dizzy!
I liked the shot of 765 headlight. This ad is really great. I want to wish everybody here on the forum happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.
Simply Wonderful!
Great video.
I loved it.
My only suggestion . . . . .
ROTFL!
Hey...you'll derail that loco with that big bottle!

Reminded me of Bob Butterfield and youngster.
Nice job lad.
Fantastic.
Nicely put together and some nice shots sadly it won't make Super Bowl ad without a remake for one reason. As far as I can see there isn't one minority in the entire ad. It's all about demographics and marketing groups now
And Kevin those are indeed Mexican Cokes, if you freeze the scene where the 4 of them are toasting you can see the Spanish words on the label. For the time being the Mexican cokes still have sugar, but it was announced last week they are going to corn syrup
Very, very inspiring. Great job.
I liked the NS commercial about the train in the boys bedroom best so far and this may have topped it!
I'll watch it again tomorrow to see (and again... and again.....)
PS. I expected to see our commander step off the engine!
I like the veiled reference to The Polar Express appearing outside the boy's window, the GREAT runby of 765, and the fireman with a Coke dissolving into the Coke engineer ad at the end. Lionel offered that ad as a billboard, so it shouldn't be hard to find.
I could be wrong but I vaguely recall seeing that ad on an "O" Gauge boxcar or maybe a reefer.
I think they would probably be drinking this 6 oz. size. (Filled with Coke instead of dirt) Someone would have to have a bottle top opener in their pocket.
Is this getting picky, or what?
Well, the top photo is vertical when I add it to the reply, but does a 90 degree on its own.
Mike
Mike if you really want to get picky you can see the Coke Bottle History and see which one was correct
I do remember seeing a history of Coke and Pepsi that talked about how Coca Cola was dedicated the 6 oz bottle while Pepsi marketed a larger bottle and used it to their advantage in their advertising (because they sure couldn't win on taste)
that was fanatstic, but the enginer didn't look fimilar....
