I need help! This is my first "premium" MTH product. I purchased it new in box and it was shipped well. Upon opening the box and removing the tender, a grey wire nut fell out. Thus, I opened the tender and found two bare red wires, so i replaced the wire nut on these two wires. Upon inspection there were not other un-mated wires. Now, a brand new engine should not have wire nuts falling out of it - but that's another topic.

I place the train on the track and go to add new engine on the DCS remote, "No engine to add". I check the tether connection and same result. It's getting power because I can hear it hum a bit as voltage surpasses 8. I can smell a bit of electrical/metal smell - but in and of itself that doesn;t concern me. It is set to DCS and 3 rail. Any thoughts? I have another MTH NKP on the layout with no issues. Beofre I return it, I figured I'd start here. Thank you!

Best,

Steve
