I was reading my latest Micro-Mark Catalog and they offer NMRA Gauges in N,HO & O. My question is: Can they be used for 3 rail trains? I thought they might be of use, but I am not sure and wanted more learned posters to advise me.

When I built my display case I cut grooves for both 2 and 3 rail equipment. The 3 rail stuff wouldn't fit in the grooves. The problem was the distance from flange to flange was different so I had to find a happy medium. The flanges are closer together for 3 rail (I assume this is done to make very tight curves) so I can tell you with certainty that flange gauge will not work for 3 rail. I couldn't say about the other gauges as I have never tried them on 3 rail track or rolling stock.
