The troublemaker is acting up again (my 30-1127-1 ps1 railking Hiawatha). After resolving the "buzzing speaker" problem, it decides to stop while pulling a fast freight. I can't move it at all! This is problem #3 for the troublemaker.

When you first apply track power, what does it do? Are you sure that the battery is good? How did you resolve the buzzing speaker? How many cars were in the fast freight?
Your at the point where you need to see if the bottom board is taking AC power in and making DC out at the proper parts of the bottom board.
You can swap your top board into a know good PS-1 and see if it works. If so, the bottom board needs repairs.
If not, the top board may need to be reset or has gone bad. G
Locked in neutral would still have sound. I'm with GGG thinking you have a board issue.
I will try to open it up tomorrow to find out what's wrong.
How long ago did you replace the battery? If it is the old white battery, throw it away. Did you check the battery before you tried to fire up the engine the first time?
Marty, yes I did replace the battery. It is a green Ni-Cad battery.
UPDATE I opened up the engine and concluded that it is the boards.
Nick, the new green battery is an Ni-MH battery. They are the best yet.
