In my search to add scary Halloween type sounds to various buildings and scenes that I have built and am building on my layout, I came across a couple of options, Noch and QSI, although NOCH doesn't appear to make scary sound units. Nonetheless, has anyone installed these Noch "Sound Scenes" on their layout, link below? I noted most are rated for HO, which I take means the sound level is 1/2 of O . There's only one unit advertised for O-scale - birds tweeting in a tree. Unless I am missing something, I don't see why the HO units couldn't be used on an O-scale layout...the units are essentially a circuit board and speaker. Units require 16 Volts, AC or DC. The Noch website states the sound volume is not adjustable, but if it's too loud install a 10 Ohm resistor, which they also sell.

Years ago QSI made "Sound Bloxx" units that had the circuits and speaker within a small metal housing...I had the country sounds and wind howling and sold them a long time ago. Currently, the prices on e-bay are crazy IMO. I wish I had the Halloween one. As I recall, the units enabled connection to larger speakers via simple hookup.

Does anyone have any other ideas for sound distribution? My criteria is simply to keep the unique sound sets at specific locations, and not overwhelm the scene(s) with loudness. Sound fidelity would also be nice.
