We all know MTH makes European prototypes. I prefer my engines without pantographs because I don't have catenary. A diesel would be nice. And a GM/EMD/NOHAB would be interesting because;
A: It's EMD
B; Many countries in Europe used them, and now they are being bought by private contractors so modern freight cars and paint schemes would be correct.
C: Well, a couple had American paint schemes which may interest American buyers to use on their US themed layouts.

I agree but MTH tried cataloging it at one point but then cancelled it due to lack of orders. Perhaps they should take another crack at it. I'd certainly be interested.

Some time ago there was another thread, where we have discussed about the preferred European diesels (end cab, center cab, hood, etc.) including NOHAB and other widely used locomotives.
I hope MTH reconsiders this diesel as I prefer the more rounded European engines as opposed to the boxy looking electrics. The motorized pantographs work and look great but i also don't have a need for them. I think offering a couple of these diesels in American roads just might put some people over the edge and pull the trigger on one. I would definitely be in.
I would go for that Great Northern version.
One would look cool in Wabash blue, gray and white!. But I think that's a cool color scheme anyway.

Just to elaborate on the previous post, the "Great Northern" locomotive was painted in the GN scheme and used in the filming of "Dancer in the Dark", a Danish film set in the Pacific Northwest which was released in 2000.
Below is a link to an enjoyable website dedicated to NOHAB units. I just may have to get a book or two as I don't have anything NOHAB related on the shelf at the present time.

The Movie was "Dancer in the Dark" by Lars Von Trier. It starred Bjork as a factory worker who was going blind who had a very elaborate Fantasy life where she would imagine her surroundings as a Broadway style musical. I thought it was fun But people here don't trust my movie tastes.

are probably too conservative for this - how about a Baldwin Baby-Face, in the NYC, GM&O
and CNJ (single AND especially double-ended) versions?
Actually, both L and M have done Baby-Faces - the Centipedes.
I would be all over one or two, at least.
A few years ago Heljan of Denmark made a two rail o scale model if the Nohab. Very nice in two different Danish paint schemes. This is a great locomotive as proven by its longevity and use around the world.

I would like to see a GN model as well. I have not seen "Dancer in the Dark," but being a bit of a Bjork fan, I will have to check it out.

+1; about a year or so ago I stumbled across this diesel while looking for "European" type engines. I found one at a location in atrain store somewhere, maybe in the Netherlands and contacted them for info and a purchase but I never heard from them.
Even thought it was 2 rail, I was going to purchase and wanted to know if it had sound.

There's a dealer in the Netherlands who posts on the tinplate board - he posts as RobG. He's been promoting Merkur trains on the tinplate board and he does export sales. You might try him - he might be able to get one for you. He also has a website, which has some information in English. Go to the tinplate board, look for the post on Merkur trains, and you'll find RobG as the original poster.
I found a YouTube video of the Heljan O scale model in operation.
