I was hoping for some idea prior shipping my engine for service.  I have a Lionel Legacy Southern Pacific Lines steam engine from a few years ago.  I had not run it in probably a year but as I was going through my engines I decided to run it.  I am glad to report it fired up, responded to all commands that I would expect to work other than the smoke unit.  The switch under the engine is set to smoke on and so I slid that back and forth twice to make sure it was where it should be.  I also made sure the smoke was on from the Legacy remote.  My Legacy remote and base are current.  I also reset the engine using the R on the Legacy remote.  I am having no luck, and yes - I put smoke fluid in it.

Any suggestions?

John

Sometimes the impeller gets gummed up.  Disassemble it by removing the 4 screws on the chassis, unscrew the smoke unit and free it up with a toothpick.  You can also try adding a dropper full or JT Megasteam Eliminator and letting it sit for an hour or two... then retry.  Do you get any cab light blinks when you are operating with the smoke unit on?

Thanks guys for the replies last night.  I sent the message from 35k feet and then landed late so no playing with the trains last night.  @gunrunnerjohn, model number 6-11388.  @katy409 I think the wick is now pretty soaked but will put a few more drops in.  @Volphin thankfully its not the famous flashing lights.

I could not hear the smoke unit on Sunday when trying it.  I will try again later with nothing else on, and report back.

Thanks again,

John
