I happen to notice that the Lionel B&O E9 of the 6-39603 AA set I bought and had for a few years has one side of the powered unit with "BALTIMORE AND OHI".  Ironically, we live in Ohio and I should have noticed that earlier. Maybe Lionel is duplicating an error B&O made on a prototype!

Has anyone else seen this error on this set?

Thanks.B&OHI

Not nearly as noticeable as my Hoods Grade _  Milk car. Sad part is, I didn't even notice until days after I bought it.

The difference, though, is that the car with the missing A really existed. Its photo was posted on this forum shortly after the item was produced back around 2003. What's unknown is why the A was missing -- hadn't been applied yet, fallen off, or purposely removed for some other reason?

AMCDave is right - it's worth millions.

When did "collectible variations" become mere "mistakes"?

Actually, I have occasionally seen "speed lump" used instead of "speed bump"; not sure where. It is funny; one wonders why "lump" would be preferred to "bump" (which is slightly funny, itself).

I think I might have a rare piece. We have the MTH PS1 Amtrak F59PH #463  20-2213-1, which I still have today, that on the right side of the unit facing forward has Amtrak, but on the other...  Well the photo shows it. Sorry for bad quality photo. This was taken 3 years ago in 2014. These are the only 2 photos I have of #463. Eventually I'll have to take better quality photos. And yes, we bought it brand new in 1998, but didn't notice the road name missing on the other side till a little later after running.

You guys are too funny. Never expected so many creative and hilarious responses. It is ironic that I had this B&O engine listed for sale on OGR and DUH never noticed the misspelling of my own state.

So, what the heck does one do with one of these items with such a mistake? I can see listing it for sale and the disclosure will need to point out this defect so the price will have to be lower than normal!

Anyone know the history of such errors and the items selling with such? I find it so odd that such a defect would make an item valuable but I guess it is like a defect on a stamp...but on a much more costly item.

Thanks!
