A few years ago we were blessed with not one but two 44 ton diesels. The first versions of these little work horses with great detail and scale size. Williams with a great price and MTH with their wonderful sound system and electronics. Williams only made one batch of them and now MTH will stop selling when their business closes down. Many of us waited many years for someone make a  small scale diesel that could be street run or look at home on a small layout. Sad to see them go. Don

The MTH GE 44 Ton locomotives are the right size for my single-track 10'-by-5' layout - running slowly and pulling a short train. I bought New Haven and Boston & Maine versions.

Note that these models represent two versions of the GE 44 Ton locomotive. B&M #117 is an early version with louvers on the sides of the hoods that was delivered in 1942. New Haven #0807 and #0815 are a later version with louvers at the ends of the hoods, delivered in 1945.
