I have both.  There some spots where certain TMCC locos have problems. I can find no rhyme or reason. Ground wires are in place and helped tremendously.  Anyway, bring whatever you want.

Look forward to seeing you and everyone else.  I will email my address privately.

Have a good weekend

I'm putting together an eVite today that will include information on the meet-up to view Paul's layout.  Look for an email later today that will request an RSVP and the number of guests attending.  I'll post here once the invite has been sent in case anyone is inadvertently left off the list so that they can be added.

Thanks all!

PRRronbh,

Thanks for this information.  Could you please confirm the date for the Golden Spike's Model Train and Railroad Show is correct.  I believe June 10 falls on a Monday.

Small world!  My sister and bro-in-law live on Oxfordshire, just off Providence Rd.

The electronic invitation (eVite) has been sent. Please RSVP using the eVite and include the number of guests in your response as well. If you have any trouble using or understanding the eVite please let me know and I can walk you through it.

We're meeting at Paul's layout near Columbia, SC on April 27th, 2013 at 11:00 AM.

If you did not receive your eVite, or would like to be added to the list, please post here and I will add you.

Additionally, Paul informed me that there are two HO layouts near him if anyone is interested in visiting those layouts. If you have interest in these layouts please let me know so that Paul can check with the layout owners for availability on April 27th.

Thanks everyone. I look forward to meeting all of you.

It looks like I may have missed you.  I've added you and you should now have it.  Please let me know if you didn't receive it.

My apologies.

Come see our store. We have been here for 18 years.

We had our initial meeting last weekend.  Paul was a gracious host and his layout, The Great Carolina and Southern Railroad, was absolutely amazing.  Several of us from the forum attended and it was good to put a face with the name.

We hope to make this a quarterly event.  Look for a communication from myself or Paul in the coming weeks.

Here is a picture from Paul's layout.  Why only one you ask?  Well, just be on the lookout for more pictures of Paul's layout in a future publication.

If any of you missed this weekend's event but are interested in future activities and haven't reached out to me yet, please let me know.

Thanks again to Paul for allowing us to visit!

Jacob,

It was a pleasure meeting you in person. I also look forward to meeting more of the Charlotte area 3railers out there in the future.

Paul,

There's only one word that can describe your layout and that's AWSOME!!!

Me and my Dad talked about your layout the entire drive back to Charlotte.

The detail was amazing I know you still have some more work to do but I would like to provide some help on it in the future or just for me to break out a few of my locomotive to operate. Also like I said I love your Steam Locomotive Roster!!

Dewey,

I think Paul would fit in very nicely with the Southern Railway Steam Crowd here on the forum!!

I'll be posting some more picutes off my phone.....I was to excited and left the memory card from my camera in my computer back in Charlotte that day.

I am pleased as I can be that we had 13 forumites plus a few family members  attend on Saturday past. We had folks from as far away as Raleigh, NC (thanks Steve for all of your help) and Hickory, NC. (Thanks for coming Len and Vince). Jacob did a great job in organizing the invite and putting the word out to those interested.

It was nice to put names and faces together (Steven, Sean, his dad John, and Chuck).   Chuck put in a lot of time in helping me get ready for the visit.

The picture posted by Jacob is a view that I see everyday but for some reason caused me to view it anew and with a smile.  Most likely because my daughter Merritt (13) is responsible for the figure placement, including the pigs and chickens behind the home place.  She placed the figures without any input from me. She also did the little league bleachers and the street scene in front of Krispy Kreme doughnuts (not pictured).  Sorry no "HOT NOW" sign.  Merritt is one of those children who has never had a bad day. She always is smiling.

I will offer some dates in June or July and see how the group responds.  I am already looking forward to our next run.  Maybe we can add a few other train guys to our next visit. Thanks again to all who participated.

Hey Sam and Christopher.  Thank you for the interest. You are both (Sam the club too) are invited. Once we determine a date, with your input, we will send out invites.  Hope to see both of you soon. Sam it was nice to meet you in Ashville.  Look forward to seeing the club's layout.

My son and I had been looking forward to this event. He was an alternate for a spot at a scout leadership camp and I got a call at the last minute that he had a spot to go so we were not able to come. Will make sure we make the next one. I look forward to seeing Paul again in addition to his layout.

Jacob et al.I haven't been on the Forum for a while and it is nice to see O-gaugers in the Charlotte area getting together. I belong to the National Capital Trackers in the VA-DC-MD area, which is a large and very active club. I will be moving to Hickory, NC early next year and had discovered through this forum the folks on the other side of Asheville (hello again Sam) and in Winston-Salem. Looking forward to joining in early next year. It will be awhile before I have a working layout in Hickory, but I want to get involved nevertheless. I will be bringing 4 show modules with me.

Rich Colton

Rich,

Hickory is a 35 to 40 min drive from my house. There's also Carolina Fishing and Trains located in Hickory. Never been there so I can't say how well it's stocked but I see they have some MTH that show up on Ebay. Also there's a Great Train Show every year in April by the Alexander Chapter of the N.H.R.S. The show has grown each year I've been to it and it's one of the best put together train show in the area.

While Raleigh is a 3 hour drive from Charlotte we do have 3 good shops here.  Nick's Trains in Raleigh, Tom's Trains in Cary, and Todd's Train Depot in Wendel.

We also have the largest train show in the state coming up in November.  It will be the 29th Neuse River Valley Train Show on November 9 & 10, 2013.  It is at the NC State Fairgrounds.  Check our website at www.nrvshow.org.

George Lasley

Carolina Fishing & Trains closed about 2 years ago; Leland's in Hildebran (west of Hickory) about 3 years ago. Both owners retired. The closest shop with a sizable inventory is now The Train Loft in Winston-Salem. As a member of the Alexander Chapter NRHS, "Thanks" for your kind words, Sean. Our chapter's major projects have been restoring narrow gauge boxcars and developing a narrow guage museum in association with the Newton Depot Authority. In addition to our prototype equipment, we also have a 3rail modular layout (unscenicked) and a few smaller guage portable layouts. Our monthly meetings take place in the Newton Depot at 7:30pm the first Thursday of each month. "Stop by and see us!"
