Early Postwar Automobiles
I apologize for not posting last week, I lost track of time and by the time I realized it, it was Saturday morning . I didn’t have time because I was taking the Erie Limited steam excursion.
As I mentioned two weeks ago, At the end of WWII the automakers rushed to get cars back into production. Because the didn’t have new designs ready the first autos were wormed over pre-war designs. Consumers were hungry for new cars and they purchased them as fast as the manufactures could build them.
Surprisingly there not a lot of 1/43 models . Many of these cars were still in use in the late 1950s
Many early postwar 1/43 models are uber-expensive. For example, Conquest and Western models are north of $250. Although there are a few reasonable priced models, some of which I listed last week. Here are a few more early postwar 1/43 for the steam to diesel transition period.
48 Ford station wagon from Lucky Die Cast,Yat Ming
The former Yat Ming 1/43 models are now marked under the Lucky Die Cast brand
I am happy to see these inexpensive quality models still available.
47 Packard fastback from Brooklin
Brooklin also offered a 47 Packard Sedan.
47 Chrysler 3 passenger coupe from Vitisse.
This is a resin model marketed by Kager.
It is also different than the DeSoto I pictured two weeks ago
47 Chrysler Town & Country convertible from Vitisse.
This model is interesting with the Highlander plaid interior
47 Cadillac sedan from Brooklin
47 Ford DeLuxe sedan from IXO
They also offered civilian versions. There were a lot of these in the early post war period.
47 Plymouth convertible from Conquest
47 Chevrolet sedan from Conquest.
I would like to see this car at an affordable price
These were common after the war
