Last week’s subject morphed into a discussion of 1/43rd models of cars we owned. I have showroom literature for every car I owned. I have been thinking of 1/43rd of the 28 cars that I owned sense 1962, some of which were driven primarily by my wife. Although some would be newer than my modeling era and I would have to repaint some to match mine. . I am not surprised that a model of every Mustang I owned is or was available, I am surprised nobody produced the early Ford Taurus as the are such an iconic model. There are a few others available that are that are very close but are a model year or two off, for example the IXO ’75 AMC Pacer and the IXO ’74 Ford Maverick. I have no hope of ever finding a ’89 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal or a ’79 Cutlass Supreme.
Here are two Dinky models of cars I owned. The ones I have are in need of restoration. Dinky models in excellent original condition bring premium prices. I will replace the wheels and tires with some from newer models and repaint them to colors of the ones I had.
1952 Studebaker Commander
I still own this car
This is a mediocre model but will be fine in the background.
1957 Studebaker President
This is the car I had while in school, with a 289 V8 and a 4bbl, it was surprisingly fast.
