I notice they call it a "convention" and not a "show".

Should I read anything into that distinction or will there be a good number of dealer tables and layouts ?

Thanks.

Check their web site: http://snemrr.org/index.html

This is the 2017 Convention but it is essentially a O scale  show/meet, for whatever reasons the NE shows do not draw that well, I do not believe Atlas will be at this event, I have only attended a couple of conventions in NE in the last 2 decades, the big draw is the late Jan "Big E" in Springfield Ma, this is a mfgs and all scale show. I'm a little north of Boston and went to the Amherst show this year at the Big "E" and had a great time (and thought it seemed pretty crowded the day I went). It's about a 2 hour drive for me each way to Enfield, CT and just wondering whether it will be worth spending a whole day on it, if there will be only a few dealer tables and no layout displays.

There has not really been anything close to a real O scale convention that targets the 2-rail modeling community for several years.....but you might want to actually check the web site and see what's included so far.....

This has:

2 days of 2 tracks of clinics to attend

an actual judged model contest

at least 10 layouts to visit

and I don't know how many tables are sold so far....but I know I have 2 of them,

I don't think I'd try to compare this O Scale show with the Amherst Train show. The Amherst Train show, while very big is largely HO and N Scale, with some amount of all other scales and gauges thrown in for good measure, but comparatively little actual 2 Rail O Scale.

This O Scale National is a strictly a 2 Rail event. The ones I've attended have all been very enjoyable for that simple fact. Our segment of the hobby is small so any opportunity to attend such an event is definitely worth making the extra effort to do so. I wouldn't miss it.

My wife Kathy and I will be arriving at the convention hotel on Wednesday evening and riding the steam train/steamboat excursion on Thursday.  Friday afternoon I am scheduled to present a clinic on 3 rail to 2 rail conversions.  Saturday AM we will be departing for home.

I certainly will spend some time in the trading hall looking for some parts and pieces.

Dear Marty,et al,

Mike Rahilly and I will be there. Anytime to be with the O scale fraternity is time well spent .

Special thanks to the SNEMRR club as sponsor of the 2017 SONC. Those of us that have hosted SONC and O scale shows know the work and commitment ( manpower, mental, money ) that goes in these events.

I am also a 'closet' Boston and Maine fan.

Hope to see everyone there and save some money for Strasburg show on August 12th,2017.

Regards,

Has any decisions been made about 2018 in or near Washington, DC.

Planning is ongoing.

I want to take my daughter and 9 year old grandson so he especially can see Washington. Spent convention time then sight see DC. Thinking about train from Omaha (5 am) to DC.

If it is held at the hotel that I have heard mentioned, then there's a Metro stop right across the nearest main road - figure something ~2 blocks away.

The dates just killed it for my grandson as school starts prior. I am still interested, however.
