I have a pair of Ross switches with the DZ1000 switch machines. I will be using them to create a crossover between two loops. I'd like to use a postwar O22 controller for both switches. Is this even possible and how would it be wired up?

You will have to provide one side of the electrical power to the Ross Switch center position screw and the other wire to the center of the 022 switch control, then both outside wires go to the 2 outside positions on the Ross Switch control device. Not sure if you can use the lights or not in the 022 switch controller.

Why not use a DPDT momentary toggle switch? Much simpler, wiring schematics are on the DZ product info site.
You can also add led's on the control panel to indicate switch positions. One toggle switch - throws both switches.

I have an o22 controller controlling both an o22 switch and a gargraves switch with a dz 1000 switch machine on a reverse loop / passing siding it works fine with either incandescent or led bulbs in the controller or the switch. just follow the wiring instructions for the dz 1000.
Thanks for the replies! I have the dz1002 controllers but since I'm already using the o22 controllers on my other switches (Super O 112R's) I'd like to use one if I can. Al, I tried an o22 but the switch machine didn't activate and the red led lit, no matter which direction I moved the controller lever. I was concerned about damage to circuit boards so didn't press the issue. I might have missed something or wired it incorrectly. I'll give it another try.

Sounds like you have the switch wired wrong. The center wire at the switch is for common wire to the switch control(center screw at switch housing) and the outside wires are the control or switches wires.
Super O switches are differently wired if I am correct. Unfortunately I didn't use any Super O track.

I tried the o22 controller again this morning and no joy. It was wired exactly like the dz controller but still will not switch the machine off of the mainline direction. The dz controller works perfectly wired this way. I'm just going to use the dz controller, especially since one controller will operate both switches according to Dennis from Z-Stuff. Thanks again for the input!
