Hi Ben:

Thanks again and always looking forward to this wonderful event. You and the guys are the best. At this point I don't know who would be coming with me as
my friends can't plan more then a few weeks ahead but I will inform the club when I get a name or two for the badge(s).

I have always put $5.00 in the donation container each time I've come to
Trainstock so charging $5.00 admissiion, no problem.

Looking forward to the METCA dinner on November 5th.

Hope I'm not to late to sign up---I've yet to miss one
Trainstock is up there with York in my "toy train" world.
The best "train party" on the planet.

May bring my wife and son this year---can I let you know a little later???
Thx
Joe S Cool

PS
Looking forward to picking-up some new Trainstock swag this year.
Thx again.
Hi Ben and NJ hi-railers Guys. We are putting together some intial plans for the Trainstock weekend and are looking at taking a train from Buffalo to NY city. We will probably leave by train on friday and return on that monday. I nor my wife nor our freinds have been to this area in many years, so we need a lot of assistance on directions, places to stay etc, etc. I know we must see Times Square among other sites along w the trip over to New Jersy on saturday to take part in Trainstock- What are some suggestion on mode of transportation to Trainstock, is there a map and or an address so we can get an idea on location.

Jim here's the address
185 6th Ave
Paterson, NJ 07524

I'm sure someone on the forum can give you travel by train tips to get from NYC. In the mean time Google NJ transit and see if trains run to Paterson, also look into renting a car to drive out.
Things to do/see
You can get tickets to see the 9/11 memorial on line.
Macy's, Empire State building, China town - Little Italy
Lots of good stuff in NYC, all depends on time and preferences.

I stayed in Hoboken, NJ(20 minutes from TRAINSTOCK) to get a hotel view of Manhattan...took the PATH train into MIDTOWN(22 minutes)...went up to street level...took tour busses that let you get on and off at attractions. Think it costs less than $100 for tours per couple...with a 48-hour time limit to use. See ALL of Manhattan and part of Brooklyn..Ron B.

HI guys, thanks for the suggestions and other info. Is there by chance a subway train that we could take? I say this becauce i need to check out the elevated designs, elevated stations, etc.

Ride the 7..squeal around that turn at Queensboro Plaza...Ride over the Sunnyside yards...and for some unknown reason you want to see Citifield..keep going to Willets Point Blvd...and if you see John Rocker.....just keep walking

rat
Thanks John.
Hopefully we will have enough time to accomplish all these places. What i meant to say was taking a subway from NYC to Transtock 4 in NJ, is this posible or are we better off taking a taxi, there will be 4 of us in the party.

tks.

Jim, Manhattan has subways all over, mostly underground. you can take one into Brooklyn and see lots of elevated lines. there is a nice subway yard in Coney Island and Coney Island station is pretty spectacular also. might as well stop at Nathans for a dog or Totonos for a slice of pizza Big Grin
