Well I see and hear all about this TCA York Train Show every fall

and spring,(both good and bad).

I think with all the members on the OGR, we should have our own

train show and invite the members for free and open it to the general

public.

I think we would have a grand time with all the expertise.

I would definitely bring my 8'x 12' board and run and fix trains

for the weekend.

And who would organize, coordinate, run said meet.

I'm not sure folks realize the time and effort that goes into something like this.  The logistics can be daunting depending on the size, scope, and venue.

Unless you are talking about a local VFD or VFW hall type show I imagine that OGR would have better things to do than organize a train show.  Heck Allan can't even go to York half the time.

While an interesting idea, I just don't think it would pan out.

GREAT idea.....LOTS of work!!!!!

I helped organize and run two national meets. It was in the plastic model car hobby.....but getting a large meet set up and run is about the same.

Both meets pretty much took over my life.

And the cost was pretty high even back in 1990. Our club footed the bills,,,but still cost me out of pocket to drive to meetings and places to set things up.

And with the OGR membership all over the country (and world really) getting a consensus of where, when and how.......I don't want to think about it.

Best bet is to meet a York or local shows like a few of us OGR members will at the Huntington WV show Thanksgiving weekend 2014.

Dave, thanks again, for plugging the AMRS (Appalacian Model Railroad Society) Show Thanksgiving Weekend 2014 at Huntington, Wva. I also extend an invitation for anybody that's in our area during the Thanksgiving Weekend to please stop buy. It will be down town at the Huntington Civic Center. Friday - Sunday, I guess this was ok, as I've read how much the York and other shows have been talked about on this forum. If it's not I'll cease..............................

OGRM train Show would be nice, but there "ain't nothin" in the world like attending York!

Will fights break out? Will there be mud wrestling? I haven't been to Ohio in years.

Honestly, it would be worth the drive - I'll treat it as a Midwestern Vacation (whaaa...?) - just to see what would happen...I'll bring O-gauge stuff to sell, plus that stupid NIB

HO Bachmann Spectrum Russian Decapod that I cannot GIVE away. (Long story.

I do have the MTH O-scale version.)

Shows like the one at the Eastern States Exposition (Big "E") and York didn't appear overnight. They grew over time. I don't think anybody could start a train show and reasonably expect it to be an event like one of those shows.

Here is a web page with a little history about the Amherst Railway Society show (Big "E").
I don't know exactly when I started attending their show. It was after the show moved to the Better Living Center (1986), but before the show expanded to two days (1991).

Weather permitting, I go every year.

The show is every month except July as the county fair is on then.  When it gets closer let me know and we can plan something.

You've got that one absolutely right. We'll be having Trainstock 7 on January 17 in Paterson, NJ. If you go to the pictures pages of our website (http://www.njhirailers.com/Event-photos) you'll see the pictures from some of the older Trainstocks. The date isn't on the website because it is a closed event -- Forum members only. We always have a great time.

Stay tuned to the Forum for the formal announcement, but make sure to get the date into your calendar NOW!!!
