Getting a friends collection ready for auction and came across about 60 packs of old champ decal sets

They appear to be in great shape as far as appearance goes

My question is after all theses years would they still be any good and is there interest out there in old decal sets ?

All PRR and Reading assorted engines and cars

Thx

There would be some interest if Microscale or others no longer make the same decals. Also, Champ made some decals that no one else made.

As for as usability, I asked this question here back in April …….  USING CHAMP DECALS .  The hobby shop I purchased them from even included instructions stating that some sort of clear coating …. before soaking them in water …. MAY be necessary.

I have not tried to use them yet, as Atlas has not shipped my engines.

I have had good luck with Champ decals but they made them for many years and its hard determine how old they really are. As others noted best bet is to recoat them. Microscale makes a product to do this, maybe others. I would avoid Walthers decals. The ones I have tried just vaporize as soon as they hit the water.

I look for em, but I think the 8-10 bucks people ask for them on ebay is insane, opinion only.  I love the old tankcar decals

The home-based supplier I bought mine from charges $20, including the $1.20 it costs to mail them to me.

But, he's the only one that has what I need. lol.

(He has a lot of Champ decals …. maybe bought-out part of their stock)
