Very nice Spence. The Buick in the photo is close to my first car. Brought back a memory.
That's the best looking group of railroad workers I've ever seen!

My guess is that the women roundhouse workers beside the G5 at the Morris Park roundhouse and shops were employed during WW II.
I well remember those seemingly HUGE drivers as a child alighting the train in Hicksville in the late 1940's to visit my grandfather.

The Futura style lettering on the engine dates it to the World War 2 era. It looks rather well polished and tidy as well in this photo

How about the blizzard of 1899 in south central PA with the 1st train to make it into town....stopping at the station on Carlisle St. Either an H1 or an H2 odd on front; still trying to locate a picture of the 2nd engine a few cars back on this train.
and blasting through the center square.
Hi Dave,
I think that you've already seen this, but I found a clearer photograph of your great grandfather's locomotive on this web page. If you haven't already seen it, then I hope that it is of some interest.
There is an example of the locomotive class (E-8) at the B&O Railroad Museum (#545).
