I just wanted to pass on a some high praise for the salesmanship, courtesy and expeditious service of this excellent hobby shop. I ordered a Lionel Virginian Heritage SD70ACE with Legacy control on 4/15/14 and it arrived at my home on 4/16/14. The gentleman I dealt with, I believe his name was Jim, was incredibly congenial and helpful. This is the third time I have ordered from Sidetrack and each occurrence was very rewarding. I know they have been mentioned favorably before on the forum but it never hurts to add another compliment. Great job Sidetrack.

I've ordered a few times when I could not find NOS or Repro parts to keep my prewar trains rolling along. It's so nice when a certain company that's creating modern pieces uses the same drawings as the original. The modern parts fit right in place 99% of the time. When I call, I ask for Jim. He's my go to guy.
I have also dealt with Al and Jim at Sidetrack hobbies. I was expecting a sales flyer in the mail. I always order something from them then do a pickup at York to avoid shipping fees. A little disappointed, but maybe I'll get a flyer for the next York meet.
It was mentioned at our club meeting last night by a regular customer at SideTrack that Sidetrack will be closing or moving to a much smaller store with a massive liquidation soon to come. Couldn't hear if it was a close or move/major downsize.
I was there today...they're going to be moving just down the road to a smaller location.

Sunrise, did they say when they're moving? I have an item on order not due in to MTH until June.
Their current store is rather huge for a trrain shop. I remember when it was in the rear attic of Al's hardware stoe
RJR,
Going back to the attic at the hardware store.

Yeah, their current place is more a train 'warehouse' than a train 'store.'
I enjoyed talking to Al and his wife when they would come to the local GB shows. Unfortunately as time goes on things change. They no longer come to the local GB show.
Great business run by great people. G
I heard the same thing about them moving back to the loft of their hardware store. I hope the move was decided on because they are wanting to ease into retirement and not because of financial troubles. They are great people.

I spoke to them this morning. They will be moving towards the end of the year, to a location about one mile down the road, to again be over a hardware store.
I did not ask why, but that large store meant a lot of overhead; overhead can kill a business.
They will be at York.
Thanks for the update, RJR.
Sidetrack is usually my very first stop at York. In the Orange Hall, turn right and there's Al & Co.
