Here's a run of one trip around Harry Henning's basement, this is where the NPOG club stashes their modules when they're not on the road. A significant part of the trip is on the modules, the rest is on Harry's permanent layout sections. A smooth trip, other than the mountain on one module being out of place and stopping us in our tracks. This was with my new Keyfob camera I bought to do this kind of videos. This was done with the this camera: Mini DVR 808 #16 V3 Lens D 120 degree Car Key Micro Camera HD 720P Camcorder, it can be stuck almost anywhere and doesn't get in the way. This was stuck with a small patch of Velcro to the top of the cab.
Thanks John, that was interesting and fun. Always nice to get a vastly different perspective on a layout like this.
A great idea to have many of the shelves wide enough to display trains at an angle - must be able to get 50%+ more pieces in the same amount of horizontal space!
Is the whole layout Atlas track? I thought I spotted some Gargraves in a few places. Makes sense to help the cost in tunnels or behind scenery. I'm planning to do the same someday...
Must assume that was you driving?
Thanks guys. I do like the little camera, I wanted something small like this with acceptable video quality, this one does the job. It's not a Go-Pro, but it's also not priced like one. It also fits almost anywhere.
It's Atlas track, I'm trying to think if there's any Gargraves on any of the modules, but I can't think of any. It's possible Harry slipped in a bit of Gargraves somewhere on the route that I haven't noticed. Our module standard is Atlas track.
Yep, I'm the guy that ran down the tunnel, but it was Harry's locomotive I was using!
Thanks for the ride! Great video and awesome layout.
OUTstanding! Looking forward to the post on the Feb. 21 open house!
Holy large layout Batman.
.....
Dennis
P.S. That was mighty fun.
Thanks guys, looking forward to some additional videos at our open house with more activity. I had the rails to myself for this run.
John, Great video. thanks for posting the video, and also posting the link to purchase one of those cameras. The video quality is quite impressive, and when I went to the link, I couldn't believe how reasonably priced that unit is..... I was expecting it to cost twice that much.
Thanks Chris. I initially bought a really cheap keyfob camera and was disappointed in the results. I then did a little digging and found out that there are a lot of different models with the same form factor, but very different capabilities. This one sounded pretty good, and got good reviews for video quality, so I decided to give it a spin.
You can even buy different lenses and change them to go from wide-angle to a narrower view. I figured the wide angle was good for the intended purpose...
Now that's what i call a nice long fun trip around a layout. Great video great layout
Thanks
Alex
OUTSTANDING! The layout is tremendous... it has everything! Even giants in the mountains!
John, how did you digitize the video?
No digitization necessary, I just copied the .MOV file from the camera over and uploaded it to YouTube. The camera produces the .MOV files directly.

Yep, I saw some even more expensive cameras in the same form-factor in 1080P. Here's the first listing I came to in my search.
Gunrunner: Thanks for posting the North Penn O Gaugers Railroad club open house.
I would love to visit and have it posted on my calendar. I have a fantastic time there last year.
Bob
We'll look forward to seeing you there Bob.
John
Excellent Video. All I can say - Impressive
I really like the location of where you placed the camera. That totally makes the video a real winner!!
Thanks!
Thanks guys. I'm planning on trying several different positions for the camera, one will be on the caboose to see the whole consist, one will be on the first car after the tender, etc. I'll probably also try a reverse look like I'm the engineer looking over the tender.
