I have heard it at least twice that the actual time that players are playing the game, from the snap of the ball to the whistle, is nine to ten minutes, in a three and a half hour pro football game! Especially now, with all the injuries and goofy penalties and annoying commercials. Great opportunity to tinker with your trains and put the mute on and give them a run. I like watching the games, the Vikings kicker just choked and it was a very entertaining game. But, I'm glad I have a Cab 1 and trains to run in between the action. Enjoy the playoffs, and as always, Cheers!

My layout is in the living room. If there's something interesting on TV the trains have to wait for commercial breaks to run.
My standard gauge empire is on the floor in front of my TV. Makes it easy 'multi task'. Which is a good thing. I don't think I could sit through that Geico Peter Pan commercial ever again. 5 items for $4 at Burger King. Now, that's a different story...
I took the TV out of the LR/DR where my layout is and put it in the den. It is never on. It is totally boring. Last night I followed the Cincy_Steelers game by the internet. Talk about choking !! Wow.
TV on and Polar Railroad pumping out plenty of Hot Chocolate!
Half time. Running a nicely restored brown 318 wth original four cars from two sets of brown baby states. Beats the halftime show ...
I would definitely go with the 318 half time show. A big reason I quit watching football were all the ads and time outs that interrupted the flow of the game. Plus the announcers non-stop talking. I remember a long time ago when there was actually a few seconds of silence during a game. More fun to run trains.
Make a drive in movie theater on your railroad and put the game on that and if you want to be realistic you can pick up a drive in speaker for about $30 on eBay, just mount it on a pole where you sit, maybe a car door with a roll down window?
Unless you're a Vikings fan, then you must also include a disappointed look on your face
You can put an actual game on in progress on your layout?!!!
That's awesome! I love that. You guys cease to amaze me.
My layout is on the floor, in front and on the side of my big enough TV. So, running trains with the sound off is just a great way to watch a game anymore. Too many penalties, injuries, reviews, commercials... I go back to the fact that out of a 3 1/2 hour game, less than ten minutes is spent actually playing the game. Enjoy the playoffs! Sound down, wheels clackin'.
