Opening RK O27 Streamliner Obs. Car

I’ve opened O27 Madison cars by twisting, and haven’t cracked a locking tab. This car is not responding to what I feel is a judicious amount of torque, and I’m afraid to snap something. Any special technique I need to use? Thanks
