Does anybody have any ideas on how to possibly raise the height of these Telltale poles, because the MTH RailKing GG-1's with the operating pantographs will catch the poles, pulling them out and possibly damaging the pantographs. I know I can lock them down and turn off the operating function but it's really cool...

What is the mast made of? Plastic? Metal?
As I recall, the pole and telltales aren't really relevant to operating the brakeman/giraffe/elephant cars. The operating function of the telltale is actually the ramp at the bottom, so you could cut the pole, insert an extension, paint it and you'd be done.
If I remember correctly the poles just sit in a cup on a bracket that holds them out from the track, just remove them when using the GG1. Of course don't run your brake man or garam cars behind the GG1.
I agree with Redball342. Perhaps you can make a slight extension out of a plastic or brass tube. Maybe even a large straw.
