Just received my new MTH PRR N6b caboose w/operating brakeman today. Looks really good, however, on closer inspection, the brakeman is hanging on for dear life only by the wires that connect to the lantern. I checked the action of the car and it works fine. The lantern lights and the man leans out and goes back in again. however, he wobbles to and fro like a bobble-head or something.

My question is, should I send it back to MTH for repair, or maybe just superglue his foot to the moving platform? If I RA it back, it'll be a few weeks before I get to run it again, but I think I can repair it easily with glue. I wanted to solicit opinions from the wonderful folks on the forum here before proceeding. whaddya think?

I guess that you should give MTH a call, and ask for their advice. I imagine that if you super glue it, especially before contacting them, you will be out of Luck getting anything done afterwards.

I understand not liking having something new, then having to send it in for repair, stinks but if you want it fixed properly, that is likely the best answer.

Will waiting a bit for this one particular caboose, be that detrimental to your train operations, that not having it while it is being repaired, that it would be unbearable?

Just my thoughts, but your choice,

Doug

Thanks for the reply's guys. It isn't so essential to my operations that I couldn't do without it for a few weeks. I can't return it to place of purchase for an exchange because, after contacting them to see if I could do an exchange, they didn't have anymore in stock. They contacted MTH and they didn't have anymore in stock either. So they recommended contacting MTH as it is covered by warranty.

By the same token, it seems like such a small task to simply attach the foot to the platform with an adhesive. Meh, such is life in the model train world. I'll contact MTH and see what I can do.

MTH may very well tell you to do that, I would just call first and see what they want you to do. Gluing it before being told to, may prevent you from getting it repaired properly
