While minimum 16 gauge wire is recommended for power and signal in active TIU mode, I don’t find reference to wire gauge for passive mode.  If one has fairly long runs to some track blocks, tiu to distribution block and from there to track blocks, is there an optimum wire gauge for carrying only the passive TIU signal?

example CAT5 cable (24 Gauge twisted pairs) is sufficient for 100 Meters (330 Feet) in the computer world- easily good enough for 50 feet in the train world carrying DCS signal only- no current to speak of.
