Orders for Atlas O winter 2022 catalog 2 rail items due this week.

Thanks for the reminder Beth.  Does anyone know if the 2-rail F40PH will have fixed pilots and correct length handrails?  The Atlas pics show what looks like a 3-rail version, where past 2R releases often show fixed pilots such as this Atlas O archive pic of their SD40:

Also, will the 2R F40PH work with straight DC?  Thanks in advance.

AFAIK...all the 2 rail engines will work with straight DC.  They just need about 14 volts to get moving, cause all the electronics still powers up, and i believe u get the engine sounds, etc.

Also, I believe all the 2 rail engines have fixed pilots.  I wouldnt accept them from the mfgr if they didnt....

There is a demand for Atlas 2-rail. If their website is to be believed a lot of the 2-rail offerings are sold out. They just can't meet demand because of factory issues that have been a source of delays and cancellations for the last dozen years or so.

I would not use the Atlas website as an indicator of whats available in Atlas 2 rail.  When they show  "sold out", that means they dont have any stock left to sell, or pre-orders left.  That DOES NOT mean that I, or any other dealer, is sold out.    I would check dealer websites to see whats available.    I could be wrong, but I think there are only 2 of us who are ordering extras, and stocking 2 rail...Atlas and MTH.

Merlyn Lauber usually orders extras in 2-rail. I'm not sure if Andy Petersen still does. I know he gets the occasional custom run like his 8K gallon Gibson Wine tank cars.

That's what I meant...that pre-ordered items are spoken for by dealers who either have customers who reserved an item or want to carry extra stock. I've missed pre-order deadlines in the past but have been able to reserve models after the fact because a dealer ordered extras. Just have to shop around.
