several months ago there was a topic on solvents for paint removal. I tried looking it up and could not find that specific article.
my problem is that when i block off one color and paint the other i get the blocking agent removing some paint. then in desperation i try patching with a brush and end up with irregularities in finish. looks good unless you look relatively close then look tacky. there is probably an easy or easier solution to this problem.

you can use acetone or lacqure thinner to remove paint...but if your doing a strip down..use stripper in a rattle can......I can dopaint touch up with a brush and you cant tell.....also you can use a airbrush to do your touchup too..

a couple of questions.
do you use acetone indoors or only outdoors? it is highly flammable or am i overreacting?
do you simply brush it on or soak?
can you use it to simply strip excess paint off and leave lowest layers intact?

it works super (acetone) for removing lettering on 3rd rail engines and does not remove the paint. their black is very tough stuff and I completely removed the decals from my 3 rail Selkirk to put on new decals from 3rd rail. I did about 15 engines for them this way.
