The perfect solution to which no known problem existed.....
But Ben where will you find room on the club layout for it.
Imagine in today's world if this system would breakdown and you and others are stuck in one of these conveyors cars with an undesirable person the type you would not want to meet in a alleyway.
It would be like a horizontal elevator.
I remember that a conveyor belt type system was also suggested back then as well.
Other variations of this concept were called PeopleMovers, MiniRail, automated guideway transit, personal rapid transit ...

Something like this was used at 1963-64 World's Fair for the New York City exhibit and access to see the model of New York.
Something similar to this in idea is used as transport all over. This is how a detachable high speed ski lift works. Some of them even have speed matching conveyor belts at the load/unload station.
Never mind the undesirables, just stuck in the tunnel trapped in a hotcar with no working ac on a hot summers day is brutal in itself!
