This is my latest build for myself, a Penn Central N7B. When the PC merger occurred I hated it because it took out some of my favorite roads, especially the Lehigh Valley. I now have a problem with the PC because purchasing the PC caboose book. Now I want a specimen of everyone of them!

This one started out a factory painted Lionel NYC caboose. It was a beautiful model but I stripped it and went to work. As you can see a lot of work was rebuilding ar removing windows. The handrails had to be redone to match the PC’s way of using angle iron brackets on the corner grabs. End railings were all plastic but are now being rebuilt with phosphorus bronze wire. I am also retiring and repositioning the interior lights. Ive been working on this off and on for about 3 months. I hope to have it done in another month because I have a N5B and N8 waiting to be next. My favorite road is the GM&O but recently I’ve gone overboard with PC, UP, GN and Santa Fe cabooses.IMG_4689IMG_4690IMG_4691

Looking forward to seeing this build.  Until reading your thread, I didn't even know the PC had an N7 cabin.

Neither did I and I think remember brother love's last caboose project was fun to watch unfold.

Personally, I find the PC fascinating from an equipment standpoint.  The Hollidaysburg shop forces were certainly creative in keeping archaic equipment in service.

The Sam Rea shops were always an interesting place to drive by in the early to mid 80s. I can remember many a trip out to Raystown Lake on US-22E passing miles and miles and miles of yards stocked with all sorts of rolling stock oddities. Usually there for scrapping or fabrication into something new.

There was still a lot of PC green and PRR freight car color in that yard. It was kind of like a museum ride from the backseat of my parents car. At that age I didn't really even know what it all meant, but I knew it was very different from what I typically saw rolling by on The Mainline from my Gram's porch in Lilly.
