Is there a solution/device that can be used to eliminate the 9V battery that runs the sound board.

As for the C or D cell replacement, I did build something like that. I'm not aware of another product that drops in so simply:

There are also commodity voltage reducer boards that use the LM317, but not such a nice form factor.
