This coming Friday (11/24/17) marks the opening night for Kennywood Park's annual Holiday Lights event. This year marks a big change for us in that our layout is now in a new location (the Arcade Building) and TWICE as big as those of previous years. It occupies roughly a 42' x 50' area and is done in the shape of a big "U". We normally have a time frame of around 3 weeks to set up, but this year we only had 1 week due to the work being done to install heat in the building. Work began this past Wednesday, and as of Sunday night is 99% finished. We were in high gear the whole time with all hands on deck at one time or another, including our two junior members. During the test runs on the track, a train running at a good pace took more than four minutes to make a complete run around the whole layout. Needless to say, we are all really excited and are ready to go!
