It was a chance for non-TCA members (also known as "public") to interact with dealers who would be setting up later in the week in the meet at the fairgrounds. TCA members would also go to make "York week" longer, and maybe get what they wanted before the mobs showed up at the meet. I'm guessing this was especially attractive for those traveling a long way to get to York.

Like all "flea market"type events, less dealers now show up, thanks to eBay. Some complain that the Thursday addition to the meet "killed" the bandit meets. I, personally, don't agree.

To answer some of your questions, The tca meet start on Thursday was to kill the bandit shows. It worked for awhile, but the last 4 or 5 years it has been slowly coming back. It is on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. There are a lot of buyers. These pictures were taken late in the afternoon. Yes, the bandit meets go on at every York.
