I have a Weaver FA-2 chain drive and a MTH RS3 fro 2000 ( 8.4v battery, AE-0000001 PS2 subassembly).  The Weaver has 1 Pittman 8514, the MTH 2 RS-365SH motors.  Can I drive the Pittman with the PS board?  Should I take both motor leads from the PS2 board and tie them to the Pittman?

Goal is to retrofit the PS2 from the MTH to the Weaver.  There is not enough room for both RS-365SH motors and the electronics package and the speaker in the FA, but I can fit everything into the FA with the Pittman.

Why am I doing this, because I just have bad judgement.

Thanks in advance.

It wants to be about 1mm from the tape, and if you're going to err, do it on the side of slightly closer, the sensor peaks at around .75mm, but is close from around .6 through 1mm.  I fabricate a lot of "custom" holders with Styrene, many of the locomotives I do don't have standard motors and mounts that will fit the MTH holder.

Something I have noted about the MTH PS2 board and what they will drive is, the outputs don't get unusually hot till the static resistance of the motor / motors it is driving drops below 1.75 ohms.  What I have not tried is driving a coreless motor with a PS2 board as they are very fussy about the PWM frequency.  I tried driving a Maxon coreless with a Lionel DCDR and both the motor and the output triacs got hot fast.          j
