Just playing around with rail coloring.  It is a greenish brownish kinda color for the base color and later after ballasting they will receive some light airbrushing with a rust color and grimy black mix, at that time I can also over spray the ballast.  I went this route because a popular journal oil used (made by Texaco) I think?? had a greenish tint to it.  It appears slightly greener in the photo's then it is in person.

Good to know, yeah there is a bit of a gloss to it.  I hadn't noticed until it was pointed out to me.  I am hoping that after the over spray and ballasting that it will be toned down.

The color I use for rail is Testors Model Masters dark flesh tone.   It dries dead flat, unlike Floquils' rail brown that tends to have a satin finish like all Floquil paints have these days.
