Please post a picture, and description, and, if you were involved in the selection and/or production of the item, give us the back story on how it came to be. Please include manufacturer’s limited editions. JC Penney editions from Lionel come to mind. Think this has the potential to be an interesting thread! Here’s my contibution: CLRC C&NW Boxcar from 1996.

Here's a K-line club car that was part of a set done for Yuengling Beer. The car is actually a bank.

This is the LOTS club car, a Lionel box car, from 1989 when I was a member. The not-very-good photo is when it was on my layout in Escondido, California where I was living at the time. Then moving from there to Hawaii for 20 years, then Utah, 13 years ago and where I am now, the car is no where to be found. It must have been lost or misplaced during one of the moves.

But beware most the boys from METCA!!! They seem to have the largest and most varied club car program. And I’m expecting another of their special engines soon…

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Here's a custom by me using METCA's Atlas O's 3 pack of USA 20' shipping containers. This is now part of my patriotic train.
Started with an Atlas O undecorated 62' short bulkhead flatcar, then sprayed with Tamiya rattle can dull red. Used Woodland Scenics dry transfers for the USA 1776 lettering/numbering. Sealed everything with Tamiya rattle can semi-gloss clear. The wood decking/bulkhead planking came from Protoloads and was stained with Minwax and was glued to the car deck/bulkheads using Elmers carpenters glue. The cribbing is basswood and was glued to the containers and decking also using Elmers carpenters glue.

Paul, I agree-METCA has been killing it for a number of years with the wide variety of custom runs. Kudos to Stu Rankin.

The orange Moxie car is the only one I've ever seen. Really like the blue lobster reefer. Are these cars only available to club members or can they be purchased by anyone?

Been back in O gauge since the late ‘70s, and have never heard of your club, until reading this post. Got some pretty nice items in your display case. Some close-ups would be appreciated!

Charles Chips made in USA Boxcar
My friend Leroy Kirchner and I hatched the idea of a Charles Chips boxcar. Leroy’s life long friend’s son was the holder of the Charles Chips franchise. Once he was interested; I contacted Stu Rankin, METCA’s Division Car Chairman. Stu helped with the design and I interfaced with the licensor. He wanted a Road number that was longer than usual. I tried to talk him into splitting the number into two numbers; but he was steadfast. He was also unmovable on how many cars we could make. All the cars were sold to pre-orders before the product was shipped from Lionel.

Thank You!
The Maine 3 Railers website is at maine3railers.org Cars are available to members and to the public, but most sell out pretty quickly. We have a traveling layout, present at many venues through the year, but only in Maine. As requested, here come some photos...

So not exactly a club car, more a set of decals that was given out to participants of the 1982 LOTS meet in Mobile, Alabama...
A friend gave my late father two decal sets from this convention and he never used them. I found them languishing in his decal box while cleaning out the train building and decided to use them. Weaver PS-1 boxcar stripped and repainted yellow, decals applied after an initial glosscote to help hold them together. This is one of the two that I have; I'm willing to wager they're the only ones in existence. Fun little window on history. Thanks.
Cheers,

Frank's Roundhouse produced a set of five cars for the 1991 TCA Convention and one car that wasn't included as part of the set. The five car set was sold as a fundraiser for the convention and the single car was sold only at the convention. The five car set consisted of an Illinois Terminal boxcar, a Monon boxcar, a Milwaukee Road boxcar, a DRI&N boxcar, and a CC&P boxcar. The single car was an Old Chicago Beer/ Peter Hand Brewing reefer. [source: https://www.robertstrains.com/Frank28.htm ]

When Bachmann advertised their EZ Streets line of Divco trucks I approached the representative at a train show and launched the idea of him making a run of Charles Chips delivery vans. He said he would check if he could add another item to his order. We had already discussed the possibility with Leroy’s contact. Bachmann came back with a price and the need for a license, contract, and graphics. Stu agreed that it could be a METCA item. He produced the graphics and I got approval from Charles Chips. I rejected the first proof; the color was way off. The second one was good and we were in production. When the Divco was posted on the METCA store; it sold out in 3 hours.

I called yesterday; and spoke to a very pleasant man that had stopped cleaning their engine to talk to me. I ordered 2 and sent the check last night.
pennsyfan... Yes those guys at CNJ #113 are a great bunch. Rode the train on Saturday 5-18-2024 during Minersville Community Day behind #113...$11 per ticket for about a hour train ride in open window coaches to the New St. Nicholas Coal Company Breaker.
Thank you for supporting them with your purchase.

Lionel NATTY BO Reefer. A METCA created reefer, built by Lionel.
Having missed the initial offering of the Atlas Natty Bo reefer; I wasn’t going to pay the overinflated (3x) price on the secondary market. After a while, while talking with Stu about various projects; I asked what he thought about having Lionel make one. He said the licensing agreement would be difficult to get. He had tried for another brand; but couldn’t get any traction. One holding company has several brands. He said that if I could get the license; we could make it. It took over six months to even get the right person to talk to. The dance went on for almost a year. He gave verbal oks on the license, graphics, etc. Each time I had to chase him for paperwork. The window at Lionel was closing. After constant phone calls and texting we had everything we needed; and Lionel went into production.
