Would this be the "official" hypo test, with the FRA inspector present?
On their f/b page it states they passed the FRA hydro test and that she will be pulling the North Pole Express this year, so I'm going to go with yes.
Guess you have to believe it is so!
Thanks for the update Charlie! Unbelieveable! I thought it wasn't going to be under steam until next spring?!
Been watching the overhaul on FB for years with great interest. Still much work to do before Dec but they can do it. Looking forward to more double header specials with 765 in the coming years.
I will be there on her 1st trip out chasing her and on a later trip with my kids riding behind her! This is great news!!!
Yes Hot Water it was the official FRA test and we did pass. Final assembly is moving forward.

Ron, about how long is the North Pole Express "experience"? I'm considering taking my youngest while she can still appreciate it. Its a good 3&1/2 hour drive for me to get there.

It has been about 5 years since I have taken the NPE and when we did it went to Chensing.
That being side my daughter was 4 1/2 at the time and it was about 4 hours total if I remember. About an hour train ride there. About 2 hours at the North Pole and another hour back. At her age it was perfect.
My son is 3 and I plan to take him this year. My 2 year old daughter will not be making the trip though to next year.
Another big steamer back in service. Excellent!
RickO, Jdevleerjr is right. About an hour train ride and 2 hours at the North Pole and an hour back. This year we will be going to the town of Ashley instead of Chesaning. The whole town is going to be involved in this with several different mini events going on. I'm not on the NPE committee so I don't know all the particulars. we're looking forward to a great experience. Jdevleerjr bring your daughter to! My granddaughter went last year at 26 months and had a ball.

Good news indeed!
(Shaking iPad) yep, that bell still jingles for me.
Back and ahead of schedule is excellent.
