Wow! I always thought the Marx 591 was a homely little thing, but a bit of TLC and a real pilot truck makes a BIG difference!

Thanks! The conversion's pretty easy. Hardest part was hacksawing off the original axle mounts and filing the cut edge flush with the rest of the frame. I used the same holes the couplers were riveted in to mount the trucks.

Here is a Std Gauge Flyer 4019 & Coaches. The 4019 was done a few weeks ago, but the car roofs are were painted earlier today.
Here is a Lionel 1688 with a Marx 333 motor. I did this engine to pull the U&R Mfg coaches seen behind it.

Andy, I'm also one of those guys that loves junk! There ain't much I won't take home Those rusty Red 600/601/602 cars turned into the Orange and Blue cars for my home brewed Lionel Corp passenger set.

Here's a Williams SD45 shell in a color scheme I developed for the Gadsden Pacific Lines, home railroad of the Gadsden Pacific Toy Train Museum. I wanted something that expressed the color palette of our desert environment in Southern Arizona. I call this color scheme Desert Tan and Red Rock. The shell is going to stay like this until I get some decals made for it, so I can add the decals and clear coat before I install the handrails.
The SD45 shell was a challenge to mask because of all the panels and louvers on the side. It's very difficult to mask those small grooves. It was a learning experience and I will know how to do better on the masking next time. This was also the first time I used my new Paasche VLS airbrush. I love it - it's 1000 per cent better than the old Aztek.

This is Marx 1998 engine motor and frame with cut down Lionel SW-1 switcher body painted in B&N colors (Bauxite & Northern, sub of Alcoa in Bauxite, Arkansas).
It is a custom job with Lionel coupling on the rear and Marx coupling on the front to allow switching both types of cars.

I was told by a forum sponsor that my two engines would take 2-3 months for a repaint. That was 5 months ago and I still don't know when or if they will be completed. I'll leave him nameless.

The GG1 is a semi-scale Williams TCA 25th Anniversary repainted and decals by my father and me.
The NYC Hudson is a Williams weathered and upgraded to TMCC with 4 cuffs per revolution by my father.
The Lionel 6-17611 NYC Caboose was recently painted and weathered by me.
Here are two of mine. I also painted the standard gauge passenger cars. These and the engine were rusty wrecks; the engine cost me $50 and none of the cars more than $15 each:
The L&N RR had a couple of F-3A units before they bought several F-7s. The A-B-B-A “Black Cats” were used for pulling coal through eastern Kentucky circa 1948.
These Williams models began as Denver Rio Grande. ERR electronics control lights, sounds, couplers, and locomotion. Besides adding dual headlights, the hard part was filling and smoothing the three large holes in back of the shells. Can you see the engineer and fireman within the detailed interior? They are best when viewed pulling several black and yellow L&N coal hoppers.
Should I weather them?
