Hi, I have several postwar Passenger Cars, and a couple of the Modern stuff, like before 1995. (Before Fast Track), and they all require

Incandecent bulbs for lighting. Not really knowing anything about electronics, is it possible to convery these cars over to lower voltage LED's?

If so, then how do I go by it, or are there conversion kits available??

Thanks,

Jack

Forum member gunrunnerjohn has just come out with LED lighting kits. Don't know if they are available just yet, but will be very soon. He has made the kits with just about all you need for the conversion and has one that requires no soldering if you don't want to solder anything. Some folks solder, but a many do not want to.

Here is a recent thread about them Passenger car lighting kits

Also, John posts here regularly and helps many of us with our electronic projects, so you would have a place to go if you need help or have questions.

LED replacement bulbs are also available from many sources. trainaidsa.com is one I have used. There are many more listed on ebay and elsewhere. The link here has lots of info on LED lighting for trains.

I have all the parts for kits now, just have to assemble them and get them listed.  As stated, one option is a "solderless" kit with the LED strip wired with a connector, and the power module with pigtails and solderless splices for connection to track power.  Target price for the whole kit is around $13 and they'll be listed on the Henning's Trains website soon.  There will also be the option of just purchasing the power module separately.
