I'm going to be setting up my dad's trains next week and he has a 783 Hudson which I installed a post war whistle assembly in the tender and got rid of the S.O.S. When he runs it with his old 275 watt ZW, the whistle will only blow if you reduce the power to the track a bit. Is this common and is there a fix to this? When the engine sits in its neutral state, you almost have to adjust the power to find the sweet spot and the whistle sounds great. It almost reminds me of driving my MG with the manual choke; it takes a bit of fiddling to find where it's going to run best when cold.
Thanks.
